How kids deal with the ineffability of love? How they address their need to connect about something when they have no words? Or just a shameless bid for our attention by telling us what they know we long to hear?

We have that convo here too. However, the bottom line usually isn’t “I love you,” it’s “I need xxxxxxx please” (insert any noun into that xxxxxx). I try to not let it (the incessant string of questions that happen every waking moment) bother me, as I know in a few short years she will not want to be all up in my business and her Qs will be replaced with the silent treatment, statements of needing to hang with her friends, or worse.
Oh, boy, am I laughing. Yes, I’ve had this very conversation countless times. It’s exasperating, and then they say something sweet and it makes me feel guilty for being exasperated!
